Hello everyone and welcome back to Blog Everyday in October!
As we’ve been doing the countdown for the new Jimmy Eat World album, just thought I should say that tomorrow is the release day! Woohoo!
In the mean time, let’s talk about one of their newer albums, Damage, which came out in 2013. Damage has been described by Jimmy Eat World as their, “adult break-up album”. The songs deal with all the confusing and conflicting emotions that come with ending relationships when you’re older, from the the anger, to the sadness, to the hopeful optimism that you will someday feel better, even if today isn’t that day. Despite never having gone through a break-up, I still love listening to break up songs, I love seeing how artists translate such a painful experience into a work of art.
Personally, I love listening through Damage as a whole album, as opposed to just picking a few songs and only listening to those. I don’t mean that I never just listen to one song, but it’s more likely I’ll listen through the entire album, especially since it’s their shortest album to length (it’s only 37:46 as opposed to Clarity which is their longest running album at 64:22). However, I still have some songs which I go back to more so than others, especially “Please Say No”, “Bye Bye Love” and “You Were Good”.
Now, sit back, relax and enjoy the music 😊
“Appreciation”
“I Will Steal You Back”
“Please Say No”
“Byebyelove”
“You Were Good”
If you want to listen to the whole Damage album (which I highly recommend doing, this is one of those good listen through albums), here’s the playlist from the Jimmy Eat World Youtube channel:
Thank you for reading (and listening), and I will see you all tomorrow for one last Jimmy Eat World post!
