BEDIO: Free Write Monday

Welcome back to another Free Write Monday!

This marks exactly one week before the end of BEDIO 😱 I can’t believe how quickly the month flew by!

You know the drill by now, as I share these prompts, feel free to try them out yourself and share your work! Whether it’s linking to your post, or just writing it out in a comment, I’d love to see what you come up with (:

Also, check out the Tumblr page I’ve been using to follow along or to try out some of the other prompts!

PROMPT: The smell of campfire smoke in the air.

The crackling fire punctuated the otherwise silent night, stars clouded by the smoke of the campfire in front of us. Its constant warmth made us forget the sharp bite of the cold chill surrounding us tonight, taunting us as we burrowed deeper into our jackets. Despite the chill and the knowledge that dirt will follow us into our tent, no matter how hard we try to avoid it, I’ve always loved camping. With the smoky scent of burning wood warming our hands, the looming evergreens covering us from the worst of the cold, and the twinkling stars shining above us, it’s no wonder so many choose to escape to nature after spending so much time choking on the fumes of city life. It’s not just the pollution either, but the feeling that people are always around, even when you most want to be alone. Voices carried up from the street, invading the privacy of my apartment. Maybe it’s just the introvert in me, but I find it difficult to find solace in the hustle and bustle of city life. Perhaps I just need to get noise-canceling earphones that I wear around my apartment. Or maybe, what I really need is a change.

That’s all I have for today’s Free Write Monday! Thanks for stopping by, and I will see you tomorrow with a new post (:
