BEDIO: TV, YouTube videos, And Movies I’ve Been Watching Lately

As I mentioned in my last WWW Wednesday post, I’ve been in the middle of a reading slump. Instead of reading, I’ve been watching more YouTube/TV/Movies, so I figure why not share what I’ve been watching lately? Especially the Halloween themed videos 👻🎃

So, let’s get started!

Note: I realized after getting this together, both of these creators are super high energy, which I think is pretty funny 😂 But if you’re looking for a goof who explores some spooky places, or an “alcohol enthusiast” who isn’t afraid to be honest, then you’re in the right place haha

TV

Love Is Blind Season 3 (Netflix)

Yep, I love getting my reality TV fix, although I don’t know how I feel about this season so far 🤔

Star Wars: Rebels (Disney +)

My dad and I have been watching this for a while, as it provides good context for some of the other new Star Wars TV series such as Andor and Obi-Wan. I wouldn’t suggest watching it until after watching The Clone Wars TV series, as it does reference events and characters from that specific show.

Movies

For movies, I decided to focus on horror movies I’ve seen in both September and October, as I’ve watched a few (especially as someone who isn’t usually a big movie person)!

Get Out

This is actually the second Jordan Peele movie I watched (the first was Nope, although that was back in July when it first came out). I enjoyed both films, and it’s weird to me that people compare Nope to his previous works (well, I can’t comment on Us yet since I haven’t seen it), but Get Out has a totally different vibe and story structure (it’s the best way I can think of describing it). Although Nope does comment on society and the need for “the spectacle,” it feels much more like a monster feature. Get Out, on the other hand, focuses more on the horror humanity is capable of committing, primarily through its social commentary on race and class.

Now that I’ve seen both Nope and Get out, I just need to watch Us.

Pearl and X

I lumped these two together since Pearl is a prequel to X. These are slasher films, and although they put exciting twists on the genre, the cinematography also adds a lot to the story since it reflects the period the movie takes place in. X takes place in the 70s and has this more dark and grainy quality, while Pearl takes place during the 1910s, but the shots are full of oversaturated colors. As both films revolve around a particular character, I think the lighting and color schemes of both films reflect where this character is in her life (I don’t want to say too much and spoil anything, but if you know, you know).

Barbarian

All I have to say is that this movie definitely takes you through a variety of twists, and the ending is not what you expect 😂

Bodies Bodies Bodies

It was more of a horror-comedy than a pure horror film, but it was still fun to watch! I wouldn’t want to watch it again as the twist makes the movie as intriguing as it was, but I enjoyed watching it overall.
