Hey everyone and happy Friday!
I was tagged by Riddhi from Whispering Stories (thanks for the tag!), and I figure right now is a great time to think about all the little things that make you happy, so let’s go ahead and get started!
It’s the Little Things in Life, isn’t it?
- Books
This one is kind of obvious, (I am writing a blog dedicated to reading after all), but I figure I would get the most obvious one out of the way 🤷♂️
- Finishing a good book, and feeling satisfied
Although it can be sad when a good book ends, I always love it when a book I enjoyed has such a satisfying ending, that despite it being over, I can’t be sad about it.
- Beautiful Journals and great writing supplies
Since I love writing, and journaling, it’s awesome coming across cute stickers, beautifully designed journals, and pens that write smoothly (trust me, some pens just write better than others) that I can use in my journal.
- Iced Sun Tea on a hot day (and making fun beverage concoctions at home!)
On hot days, I make sun tea (thanks mom for teaching me!), which ultimately is iced tea that you brew using sunlight… hence the name sun tea. However, I love making all sorts of drinks at home (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and experimenting with different recipes (probably because of my time working as a barista).
- Watching the snow fall outside on a cold night
I haven’t experienced this since I moved from Colorado back to California, but there’s just something so peaceful about watching it snow at night. Even just going outside for a few minutes and appreciating the quiet that comes with snowfall is calming, although I can’t stay out too long because being from So-Cal, my tolerance for handling the cold is really low 😂
- Listening to the rain while drinking a cup of hot tea
I’m one of those people who loves listening to it rain, and especially when I’m drinking a nice cup of tea.
- Watching a TV show that I become invested in
I lose interest in a lot of shows and movies pretty quickly, so if something catches and holds my interest, that is pretty big for me 👌
- Exploring my neighborhood and city
I find it fun to just go walk around and explore, because sometimes you find some pretty cool spots that are worth going back to in the future.
- Animals
That’s it, I just love how cute animals are 🤷♂️🐶😻
- Animal Crossing
I know many people have gotten burnt out on Animal Crossing, but I like to only play for maybe half an hour at most, so it’s a nice little distraction from the world. And it’s also super cute 😍
- Taking a cold shower on a hot day
This is something I’ve recently started to appreciate more, as it doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to cool down here ever again
- Being in the most comfortable position when you’re about to fall asleep
As someone who has issues falling asleep, whenever I find a position that is super comfortable to fall asleep in, I have no choice but to thank the gods of sleeping.
- Hanging out with friends
As I’ve gotten older, it’s not always easy to get all your friends together and hang out, since most of my friends don’t (well, didn’t) live in the area anymore. Especially in this pandemic, when it’s not as easy to go see people, I’ve learned to appreciate the time I can spend with my friends.
- Spending time alone
I still like my alone time, it’s nice to be able to sit with myself and appreciate the things that bring me joy, without worrying about other people.
- Learning how to better accept and love myself
Is this cheesy? Yeah, but now at the ripe old age of 26 (okay, I’m not that old, but it’s crazy to think I’m closer to 30 than I am to 20), I’ve been better at not letting myself get to caught up in the craziness that is life, and to just appreciate who I am as a person. In high school especially, it seems really difficult to do, but as you grow older, it’s so much easier to not care about what other people think of you (to a certain extent).
Now, I think this is a tag everyone should do, because it makes you think about all the little things in life that make you happy… so I tag YOU.
But also, here are a few bloggers that I’ll tag:
Sammie from The Bookworm’s Den
Sam from Spines in a Line
Thank you all for reading, and I hope you have a great start to your weekend!

Yes smooth pens are the best! And I love cold showers on hot days too, except that I have to muster the courage to brave the cold for the first 3 seconds. 😆 Thank you for the tag!

Oh yeah, I start the shower at a somewhat warm temperature, and then ease myself into the cold temp, otherwise I would freak it 😂
And no problem! I can’t wait to see what you post 😊

I’m so on board with your small joys! I miss snowing at night, I lived for a year in Czech Republic and loved those winter crisp nights, so beautiful and crisp.

Wow that sounds amazing (living in the Czech Republic and all 😂)! And man, do I love a nice winter night 😊

Yes, we don’t really get those snowy ones in Portugal :p

Oh yeah, I could imagine 😂 Is it pretty much warm there all year round in Portugal?

It gets cold(ish), but there’s no snow, only in the mountains, which is a pity :p
