Top Ten Books Published in 2023 (So Far)

Hello everyone!

I want to try posting more than just reading wrap-ups, so I’m going to go ahead and do a Top Ten Tuesday post!

This week’s topic is actually “Most Anticipated Books Releasing During the Second Half of 2023,” but I’m terrible at keeping up with new releases… so I decided to focus on Ten books that were published in 2023 and that I’ve read/ recently acquired/I’m interested in reading.

Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl hosts Top Ten Tuesdays every week, so go check out her blog (where you’ll also find more bloggers who participated in that week’s round of Top Ten Tuesdays)!

Books I’ve Read

A Place for Us: A Memoir by Brandon J. Wolf

A memoir from someone who survived the Pulse Nightclub shooting, this is a book of grief and strength. Overall, a great book to end Pride Month with.

the book of redacted paintings by Arthur Kayazakian

A debut book of poetry, I think the best way to describe it is summarized perfectly in the description from the publisher’s website:

“The narrative arc follows a boy in search of his father’s painting, but it is unclear whether the painting exists or not… The withdrawn paintings concept is the emotional arc of the book, a combination of wishing one could paint the pieces he/she/they envision and the feeling of something torn out of a person due to a traumatic upbringing.”

Books I’ve Acquired

These are books I either bought or I got through the Kindle First Month program (if you are a Prime Member and don’t take advantage of getting a free e-book each month, you definitely should!). Just to clarify further, the First Month program essentially lets you get a free e-book of a debut author’s book that’s coming out within the month.

The Karma Map by Nisha Sharma (Kindle)

The Shadow Sister by Lily Meade

Don’t Say A Thing: A Predator, a Pursuit, and the Women Who Persevered by Tamara Leitner (Kindle)

The Rise and Fall of Ava Arcana by Jennifer Banash (Kindle)

Other Books On My Radar

These are books I have seen around and that have piqued my interest but I don’t own and that I am not necessarily going to buy anytime soon.

Hellbent by Leigh Bardugo

I’m on the fence about reading it, as I felt pretty neutral about Ninth House, and this is the sequel to it, but my friend bought it, so I might just borrow it from her if I want to read it.

Yellowface: A Novel by R.F. Kuang

I’ve had my eye on R.F. Kuang’s books for a few years but still haven’t picked any up yet, so this is another one of her books I’ll be adding to my TBR.

Pageboy: A Memoir by Elliot Page

It just came out, and since I’ve been seeing it everywhere, I’ve been curious about it, as although I don’t really have favorite actors or anything, I grew up seeing his work and would be interested in learning more about him.

I’ll Stop The World by Lauren Thoman

Aside from having an interesting premise, it also apparently has a neurodivergent character, so I added it to my TBR.

Thanks for visiting, and let me know if you have any anticipated books releasing sometime in 2023! Or just talk about a book you’ve finished recently that you loved (:

That’s all for now, and I will see you in the next post!

-Erin (:

    1. Yeah, I’m still very on the fence about reading it, and totally relate to not wanting to read a big book. Sometimes it’s nice to just read something shorter (and there are so many other books I want to read right now!) 😂
